During the latest lockdown we will remain open and patients should keep their appointments as arranged. You should not attend if it’s not safe for you to do so, for example if you have symptoms of Covid-19, are waiting to receive test results, or have been asked to self-isolate. If you are unable to attend, please ring us in advance rather than not attend, so we can reallocate your appointment time.
All at Sunlight Orthodontics would like to thank everyone for their patience whilst we’ve not been able to see you. We can assure you that we are fully compliant with all Covid-19 safe practice guidelines.
Meet the team
Joe Dwyer - Specialist Orthodontist
BChD. MFGDP(UK) RCS Eng. MFDS RCS Edin. MOrth RCS Edin.
GDC Reg. 73232
I qualified in 1997 and after a number of years working in general dental practice and in hospital both in maxillo-facial surgery and restorative dentistry, I was bitten by the orthodontic "bug". I then undertook a three-year, full time post-graduate programme, culminating in a Masters Degree in Clinical Orthodontics and the Membership in Orthodontics qualification with the Royal College of Surgeons in 2006.
I am fully registered with the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Orthodontics. Being interested in all aspects of orthodontics, I undertake many hours of postgraduate education each year to keep up to date with all the latest techniques. I am particularly interested in tooth straightening techniques that are virtually invisible and on a personal level, find it extremely rewarding to see the satisfaction and increased confidence people gain from having a great smile. In my spare time I try my best to keep fit, ably helped chasing around after my young family members!
Amanda Hagan, Orthodontic Therapist
I joined Sunlight Orthodontics in 2014. I am registered with the General Dental Council having qualified as an orthodontic therapist in 2009.
Married, with two children, I have little time for hobbies as most of my spare time is taken up playing "mum’s taxi".
Melanie Watson, Orthodontic Therapist
I have worked in the orthodontic field for over ten years and am registered with the General Dental council as an Orthodontic Therapist.
The best part of the job is seeing the smiles on people’s faces when the braces come off. I never tire of seeing happy patients.
Outside of work my time is dedicated to looking after my daughter and a particularly demanding family dog.
Sue Williams, Practice Manager
I joined the Practice in 1986. I live with my husband Graham and son Callum and so am totally outnumbered when it comes to sport on the TV!
I have a Diploma in Management and am also certified in Health & Safety, Risk Assessment, Oral Health Education and more recently Dental Radiography.
I helped the practice to achieve the ‘Good Practice’ Award from the British Dental Association and try to catch as much time as I can resting with my Kindle!
Terri Tudor, Orthodontic Assistant
I joined the team in 1988 and hold Certificates in Dental Nursing, Orthodontic Nursing and Dental Radiography. I am also the Infection Control Lead at Sunlight Orthodontics.
I live with my husband, Dave, and our two sons Tom and Adam. I enjoy redecorating the family home...and making ‘to do’ lists for Dave’s DIY!
The boys and I enjoy keeping fit and can often be found at the gym or failing that check the loungers at the side of the pool...
Yasmin Jones, Orthodontic Assistant
I joined Sunlight in 2014. I am registered with the General Dental Council, having gained my Certificate in Dental Nursing and have over nine years of experience.
More recently I completed my Certificate in Dental Radiography and am working towards the Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing.
In my spare time I enjoy catching up with friends and baking.
Amanda Hurst, Reception
I joined the practice on Reception in 2012 and have been working in the dental environment since 2005.
I am married to Richard and have 2 sons Tim and Nik, both of whom have beautiful smiles after wearing braces and afterwards, their retainers (take note)!!
In my spare time I enjoy watching motorsport, especially F1 and MotoGP, and on a windy day can be found on West Kirby beach flying a stunt kite.
Katy Rogers, Reception
I joined Sunlight Orthodontics in 2016 on Reception. I am currently studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Chester.
The majority of my spare time is spent looking after my horse who I’ve owned for 7 years and catching up with my friends.
